Joshua Sweeney, PGA
Lead Performance Coach

Josh started playing golf at 13 years old and immediately became hooked – some may say obsessed. After a few lessons on the basics, most of what he learned during the early years came from countless hours and many frustrations on the golf course and practice areas attempting to figure things out on his own.
Born and raised in a small town near York, Pennsylvania, Josh has been in the golf business since 2001; teaching since 2004. Following high school, he planned to enter a mechanical/nuclear engineering program at the Pennsylvania State University; however, during his freshman year he recognized his true passion was the game of golf. After changing majors, Josh graduated with degrees in Professional Golf Management and Business Management from Penn State.
When not coaching, Josh enjoys working on his own golf game, outdoor activities, trying out new recipes in the kitchen, working out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, attending or watching sporting events and live music, and spending time with family and friends.
Josh has a passion to share his knowledge, provide a great experience and deliver RESULTS to every student. After establishing a relationship and assessing the current state of their game, students are guided towards their goal in a SAFE and FUN learning environment. He believes in helping each student understand their game and improvement process so they can become their own best COACH.
As a student of the game, Josh believes in continuous learning and self-development across all areas influencing someone’s golf game. The former engineering approach to how everything works together has driven him to explore and study from some of the best in the fields of golf instruction, fitness, coaching, biomechanics, technology, equipment, mindset, motor learning and skill acquisition.
Josh’s core teaching philosophy is driven by a desire to help golfers evolve into the best they can be both on and off the course – CHAMPIONS IN BOTH GOLF AND LIFE. He enjoys the challenge and diversity of helping people of all levels and ages.
He currently teaches at the Learning Center at Reston National Golf Course, in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C.
